چکیده

Photosynthetic pigments in a warm core eddy of the East Australian Current were studied by In vjvo fluorometry, spectrophotometry and thin-layer chromatography. The Variosens i n sltu fluorometer gave only an approximate guide to the location and quantity of phytoplankton in the water column; spectrophotometric curve analysis revealed the presence of intact or detrital chlorophylls, and quantitative thin-layer chromatography showed that in some samples intact chlorophyll a accounted for only 50-70 % of the total spectrophotometrically measured 'chlorophyll' In addition the full range of chlorophylls, carotenoids and chlorophyll degradation products was recorded from the chromatograms.

Comparative Study on the Effect of Water Stress and Rootstock on Photosynthetic Function in Pistachio (Pistacia vera L.) Trees

The aim of this study is to evaluate the  effects of water deficit stress on chlorophyll fluorescence (CF) characteristics of photosystem II (PSII) and pigment contents in two rootstock seedlings (Pistacia atlantica L. and P. khinjuk L.). Three levels of soil water potential (Ψs) was used, including WWD (-0.05 MPa), MWD (-0.7 MPa) and SWD (-1.5 MPa). It was found that water stress increased the...

Effect of pigment composition on absorption properties of phytoplankton

Absorption spectra of several phytoplankton species were decomposed, after correction for the particle effect, to estimate in vivo absorption properties of the major light-harvesting pigments in algae. A Gaussian shape is suitable, theoretically and empirically, to represent the absorption spectra of individual photosynthetic components. The Gaussian parameters agreed well with the expected pig...

Effects of Copper Heavy Metal and Interaction With Nitric Oxide on Growth Parameters, Photosynthetic Pigment, Soluble Carbohydrate Content and Antioxidant Enzymes in Portulaca oleracea L. Ferdous Fendereski, Mahlagha Ghorbanli* and Arian Sateei

Copper is one of the heavy metal in plant that causes toxicity at high concentration via producing reactive oxygen species. Nitric oxide can protect cells from oxidative stress produce by reactive oxygen species. Effect of different concentrations of copper (1000, 1500 and 2000 μM) and interaction with nitric oxide (100 and 150 μM) were studied on growth parameters (shoot and root length) and s...
